qBittorrent seems to work smoother than Utorrent, so I'll be using that from now on. Just dl'd a 9Gb file in about 2-3 minutes. I ended up setting my dl speed to 1000000 KiB/s and everything is back to normal 50Mb/s dl speeds. Then I tried this and BAM! rates started to increase. Been checking all morning for a fix and nothing worked. I eventually dl'd qBittorent and had the same issue. I tried throttling back the rate but it tanked so i set everything back but it continued to tank. I was up to ~50Mb/s but it was crashing out for some reason.huge memory expenditure. Been getting consistantly higher and higher dl speeds over the years. THIS! Both uTorrent and qBittorrent apps' dl speed tanked last night. They also have an app for Android and iOS. There's a section with instructions you can follow to try this on Mac, Windows, Linux, or even your whole router. Here's Cloudflare's page explaining this in more detail: I like Cloudflare's free DNS (1.1.1.1) many people use Google's (8.8.8.8) or various others offered. To be honest I'd rather use a public DNS anyway instead of my ISP's defaut DNS, for privacy and better speed.
So I wanted to use a different DNS if my connections suddenly worked then I'd have known that my ISP was interfering via their DNS. If they did this they would use DNS to translate your requested URL to a wrong IP address. In my case they weren't but I guess I just wanted to confirm. If you try to send traffic to a website they don't want you to use, they could block or reroute your traffic somewhere else if they chose to. Your ISP can see where your internet traffic is going.
